KOTA TINGGI, July 6 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Pasir Raja state constituency, Mohd Fakharuddin Moslim is using a so-called hybrid strategy to win over voters with just four days left before polling day for the Johor state election.
He said the hybrid approach combined aggressive face-to-face campaigning on the ground with dominance of narratives on social media platforms, a method that proved effective as his machinery successfully completed a 100 per cent tour across all localities in the state constituency.
Through the strategy, he said, they were not only able to physically approach traditional voter groups, but also successfully penetrated geographical boundaries to engage with young people and outstation voters through the use of social media platforms.
“It allowed us to simultaneously engage with almost all segments of society, including small traders, farmers, youths, and Felda settlers. In terms of physical coverage, our machinery had successfully traced the entire Pasir Raja state constituency, including relatively remote areas such as Sungai Redan.
“Since all localities have been visited, our focus in the remaining few days of this final sprint phase is to conduct a second round to strengthen voter confidence,” he told Bernama here today.
Meanwhile, Mohd Fakharuddin said he is aware that young people were the determining group in the current political landscape, and digital platforms were the best space to spark awareness to attract them to return home to vote.
“Our main focus now is to use this digital impact to mobilise outstation voters, especially the youth, to return. I want to ensure this message reaches their gadgets that every vote in Pasir Raja determines the future of this area,” he said.
He said that he had utilised his background as a Felda settler’s son and a second-generation resident from the area when going down to the ground to build a close relationship with voters.
“I am grateful that there is a spontaneous chemistry created on the ground, the acceptance of Felda residents, including the first generation, deeply touched my heart. They welcomed me warmly and some even invited me to sit down, chat, and drink together at stalls while I was campaigning,” he added.
Mohd Fakharuddin is facing a three-cornered contest in the Pasir Raja constituency, which has 29,818 registered voters, against BN candidate Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba and Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Yuhanita Yunan.
